Investment Philosophy

Dolphin Capital seeks to outperform the S&P 500 Index on a risk-adjusted basis. To achieve this goal, the fund employs a macro-informed, data-driven philosophy that blends top-down economic analysis with bottom-up equity research.

Our investment strategy integrates fundamental valuation techniques, quantitative modeling, and risk analytics to generate high-conviction investment ideas. The fund is committed to diversifying its portfolio across different sectors to capture opportunities while minimizing concentration risk.

Organizational Structure

The fund is led by an Executive Board, chaired by the President and Chief Investment Officer. The Executive Board oversees two primary divisions within Dolphin Capital: the Investment Division, responsible for sector research, equity analysis, and portfolio construction; and the Quantitative & Analytics Division, which focuses on data automation, risk management, and performance modeling to support informed investment decisions.

Each sector within the Investment Division is led by a Sector Head supported by a team of analysts. The fund is advised by faculty from the College of Staten Island's Department of Business.

Selection Procedure

Recruitment to join Dolphin Capital is held at the beginning of each semester. An information session will be held within the first couple weeks, followed by applications and interviews. We welcome students from all majors and class years who demonstrate curiosity, dedication, and a willingness to learn.

The selection process evaluates candidates based on communication skills, critical thinking, passion for finance and markets, and collaborative attitude. Prior finance knowledge is not required we value intellectual curiosity and commitment to learning above all else.

Standards of Professional Conduct

The Standards of Professional Conduct reflect Dolphin Capital's mission towards becoming a professional and successful organization. High ethical standards are critical to maintaining the integrity of the fund and are applicable to all members, including Analysts, Sector Heads, Executive Board members, and faculty advisers.
